Rite Aid has yet again filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week and this possibly means that this is the end of their chain store after 60 years. They once had over 5,000 stores but now, there are only about 1,200 locations left and with the recent news, they are planning to sell or close all of its remaining stores.
The chain is planning to remain open throughout much of the bankruptcy process and there is no exact date yet on when the stores will be permanently closed. Right now, you can still shop both online and in-store and fill prescriptions and get immunizations.
Also, effective immediately, Rite Aid Rewards points will no longer be issued for qualifying purchases and all accrued points and BonusCash will expire as per their standard terms and conditions. Since the final closing date is still unknown, we suggest for you to redeem your points and BonusCash as soon as possible.
Lastly, starting June 5th, Rite Aid will no longer accept gift cards and returns and exchanges will be discontinued. If you have prescriptions at Rite Aid, don’t worry because they are working on the transfer of prescription services to other pharmacies but if you are in a rural area where Rite Aid is the only pharmacy in town, it’s better to consult with your pharmacist about the transfer of your existing prescriptions.
